The first two days of racing at Saratoga have featured quality racing and large competitive fields. The result so far has been back to back pick six sequences that have gone unhit, leaving a carryover of over $209k heading into the Sunday card.
The Sunday feature is the Grade 1 CCA Oaks, which has pulled a field of seven. It is headed by Bob Baffert's Abel Tasman, currently the leading 3yo filly in training and looking for her third consecutive Grade 1 win.
Her main competition figures to come from Salty, who has finished behind Able Tasman in each of her last two starts. She was a bit of a troubled 5th in the Kentucky Oaks, and then improved to come away second best in the Acorn.
Bill Mott's Elate is not without a chance from the rail. She will likely have to imrove a bit in the face of the top, two, but she is talented, has speed from the rail, and should have no trouble with the distance.
The pick six covers races 6 through 11, and it is, once again, a difficult sequence to navigate. Before scratches, the sequence consists of five full fields of 12, and the seven-horse CCA Oaks.
Abel Tasman is the 8/5 ML favorite for the Oaks. The shortest price on the line for any of the other five races is 3/1.
