According to agent Keith Drebin, jockey Juan Gutierrez will be out indefinetly with a couple of cracked bones in his vertebral column.
"The doctor said it takes about six weeks for the bones to heel," said Drebin. "They are going to reavulate, so it could be longer, or possibly shorter."
Drebin also reported the other riders involved in the spill, Eliska Kubinova and David Martin, were sore, but no broken bones were discoverd. They are off their mounts today.
The spill occured in the sixth race when Signoria Ermenia, ridden by Kubinova, fell nearing the quarter-pole. Current Sea Xpress and I'z a Sweet Ride collided with the fallen horse. All three riders were transported to the Valley Medical Center in Kent, Washington, with Kubinova and Martin reportedly being released last night.
Due to the accident the final two races on the card were cancelled.
