The top three finishers in the nine-furlong Toronto Cup Stakes could all be headed for next month's $400K Breeders' Stakes, the final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. Final Copy was winning his third consecutive turf event since being gelded in April. His ability to rate kindly has improved during that streak, which should make him dangerous in the Breeders' for trainer Roger Attfield.
Runner-up Conquest Lemonraid looked the part of a winner in mid-stretch before getting caught in the final strides, while King and His Court ran evenly for third. Both might not be suited to the 12-furlong distance of the Breeders'.
Glamanation gave trainer Mike Doyle his fourth win in the Shady Well Stakes. The daughter of freshman sire Point of Entry is bred for grass, and it will be interesting to she how she fares on that surface. Runner-up Mega Monster is by hot Ontario sire Silent Name, and she could have a productive future in the OS stakes ranks.
Several longshots created a Pick 5 payoff of nearly $25K for 20 cents, and the early Pick 4 returned $4K for 20 cents.
The Jackpot Hi 5 continues to build, and the carryover heading into Wednesday is $456K.
