Collected, unbeaten in three stakes this year, worked six furlongs in 1:12.20 on Wednesday at Del Mar for a potential start in the $1 million Pacific Classic on Aug. 19.
Trainer Bob Baffert stopped short of confirming Collected for the Pacific Classic at 1 1-4 miles but said the race is under consideration for the 4-year-old colt.
"I know he loves this track," Baffert said.
The stable has Arrogate geared toward the Pacific Classic. The champion 3-year-old male of 2016, Arrogate was a disappointing fourth in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap last Saturday.
Collected has won 7 of 10 starts. This year, Collected has won the Santana Mile, Grade 2 Californian Stakes in May and the Grade 3 Precisionist Stakes in June, all at Santa Anita.
Wednesday's workout list was led by Songbird, the two-time champion who breezed a half-mile in 48.60 seconds. An article on her workout appears in the news section on DRF.com.
In other works, Diamondsandpearls, a sharp maiden race winner in her debut on July 2, worked six furlongs in 1:13.40. She is set to run in the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at 6 1-2 furlongs on Aug. 5.
Midnight Storm, the winner of seven stakes, worked five furlongs in 1:01.40. He is a candidate for the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile on turf on Aug. 20, a race he won last year.
