Spectator ($10) won her stakes debut with an ultra-impressive win in Saturday's Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes for 2-year-old fillies.
Ridden by Jamie Theriot, Spectator stalked pacesetter Surrender Now before taking the lead in early stretch. Spectator drew away to win by 5 1-4 lengths over 17-1 Dancing Belle, the only maiden in a field of seven.
Spectator ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:17.66.
Terra's Angel, the 50-1 longest shot in the field, finished third, followed by Diamondsandpearls, Spirit of Shanghai, Midnight Summer and Surrender Now, the even-money favorite. Surrender Now was eased in the final sixteenth.
Spectator is owned by owners and breeders Rick and Sharon Waller and trained by Phil D'Amato. By Jimmy Creed, Spectator won her debut in a maiden race at five furlongs by 5 1-4 lengths at Santa Anita on June 23.
