Smokem, trained by Gary Sherlock, beat maidens in fine style here on July 21 and is the early favorite to win his stakes debut in Sunday's Graduation Stakes for California-bred 2-year-olds.

Smokem must beat three formidable rivals from trainer Mike Machowsky - Schulace, Utah Ute and Drizzy.

Of those, Drizzy is considered a danger, Machowsky said earlier this week. Drizzy won hs debut at Santa Anita on May 20 by 5 1-2 lengths.

Drizzy (10) may have a slight advantage over Smokem (2) in post positions, with an outside draw. Smokem inherited the inside post after the withdrawal of Sir Valentine (1) from the rail.
