It's been a fruitful weekend for the popular Ontario sire Silent Name, whose offspring swept both local 2yo stakes--Saturday's Clarendon with Be Vewy Vewy Quiet and today's $125K Nandi with Summer Sunday.
Trainer Stu Simon, who's having a career year, said the unbeaten Summer Sunday will run back Aug. 30 in the $200K Muskoka Stakes, for graduates of local yearling sales. Nandi runner-up Rosemere was making her debut, and the daughter of Court Vision could have a bright future as well.
The disappointment in the Nandi was New York shipper She's the Berries, who could only manage fourth as the 5-2 second choice.
The debuting 2yo English Channel gelding Admiralty Pier romped in a six and a half-furlong maiden special on turf. The Barb Minshall charge could be headed for the G2 Summer Stakes.
Leading rider Eurico Da Silva registered a hat trick.
The handle was a solid $5.32 million.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover heading in the nine-race holiday Monday card is $681K.
