Kencumin, an import from England, and Ready To Roc, imported from Ireland, will have their first starts in the United States in Saturday's eighth race, an optional claimer at a mile on turf.
Ready To Roc (7) is preferred over Kencumin (1) even though Kencumin has worked well of late.
Ready to Roc, now trained by Ed Freeman, will race as a gelding for the first time. Ready to Roc won his debut in a maiden race at Dundalk, Ireland, on the all-weather surface in April 2016 in his debut when trained by former jockey Johnny Murtagh.
Ready to Roc was fifth in five subsequent starts and finished behind Caravaggio and Churchill in stakes for sprinters. Caravaggio and Churchill, both trained by Aidan O'Brien, are among the leading 3-year-olds in Europe this year, having won Group 1 stakes in recent months.
One drawback is the absence of a recent race. Ready to Roc has not raced since September. He is 15-1 on the morning-line.
Kencumin will have his turf debut on Saturday. In two starts in England in January and February, Kencumin was third in his debut and won a maiden race on the all-weather tracks at Wolverhampton and Southwell. Those are bottom-rung racetracks in England.
On a more promising note, Kencumin did work well on this turf course on July 30, going five furlongs in 1:00.60. The colt is trained by Peter Eurton, and is 4-1 on the morning-line.
