William Buick, who hit the Arlington turf course when his mount, Permian, broke down in the Secretariat Stakes earlier today, remains at Northwest Community Hospital near Arlington, where he is being evaluated for a possible lower-back injury. Buick reportedly complaind of back pain, and scans run late this afternoon revealed a possible injury that could not be fully diagnosed without further testing. Buick has been alert and conscious since the fall and has demonstrated a full range of motion in his extremities.
Buick was to have ridden Scottish in the Arlington Million today, but that horse was scratched after being injured during a Thursday workout here.
