Songbird completed preparations for next Saturday's Grade 1, $700,000 Personal Ensign Stakes at Saratoga with a half-mile workout in 47.20 seconds Sunday morning at Del Mar. Exercise rider Freddie Rodriguez was aboard for the move.

"Very good," trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said by phone from Del Mar. "She just does everything nice and easy. She galloped out well, looked real good."

Hollendorfer said that Songbird ships early Tuesday on a flight that is scheduled to stop in Kentucky and pick up, among others, Forever Unbridled, her major threat in the Personal Ensign.

Songbird, the multiple Eclipse champion is returning to Saratoga where last summer she won both the Coaching Club American Oaks and Alabama Stakes.

"We did well there last year; Saratoga is never an easy spot to get to but we're looking forward to try and win another race there," Hollendorfer said.

Others expected for the Personal Ensign are Eskenformoney, Flora Dora and Going for Broke, the latter having scratched out of Sunday's Summer Colony Stakes at Saratoga to run in the Personal Ensign.

Meanwhile, Hollendorfer said he was pleased with It Tiz Well's runner-up finish to Elate in Saturday's Grade 1 Alabama. Hollendorfer said It Tiz Well would most likely make her next start in the Grade 1, $1 million Cotillion at Parx on Sept. 23.
