The Jackpot Hi 5 pool should hit $1 million when racing resumes Wednesday night. The carryover is $967K.
Channel Maker was a disappointing fourth in the Queen's Plate, but he made amends with a gutsy score over Final Copy in the $400K Breeders' Stakes, the third leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. Jockey Rafael Hernandez said the quirky chestnut is at his best on the grass, and it will be interesting to see where trainer Bill Mott runs him next.
Final Copy ran hard in losing the Breeders' by a nose, but he might have been disqualified if the stewards had been able to see a side view of the alleged interference he caused while cutting over nearing the turn shortly after the start.
A rejuvenated King and His Court rallied widest to finish a close third over a troubled Seeking Albert, who opened up as the favorite before drifting up to 6-1. Prince of Wales Stakes winner Cool Catomine trailed in his turf debut.
Emma-Jayne Wilson won three races, including the early double. David Moran and Hernandez doubled up on the 10-race card.
The handle was $4.64 million.
