The final week at Saratoga begins with a 10-race card led by a super edition of the Grade 3 With Anticipation for 2yos on the turf.
The With Anticipation goes with a field of 11, and it is not much of an exaggeration to say that cases can be made for just about all of them.
I settled on the NY-bred Evaluator, who is exiting an eye-catching debut win over course and distance earlier in the meet where he missed the break before circling the field en route to a dominating score under strong handling.
If he can run back to that race he may well be tough to beat.
Untamed Domain was also a good-looking winner up here on opening weekend for Graham Motion. He had to overcome a bit of a steady on the turn before storming from last to easily close that race down as the favorite.
Machtree parlayed a perfect trip into a rare win for his trainer first time out, but he showed ready gameness in the stretch when challenged late in that spot, and he is one who can easily come right back to win.
One horse I am interested in using at a better price is Fort Wise Treaty. He didn't earn much of a figure for his winning debut after a very good trip and ride, but he lengthened impressively in the stretch when challenged by an odds-on favorite and finished up well.
One start prior to the stake we'll get another look at Mr. Crow, who hung up a big 109 Beyer breaking his maiden on July 22nd. I can't put any money in against him but it will be interesting to see how he backs that race up.
In the 7th Chad Brown sends out a pair of talented fillies in Dovecote and Durable Goods over a route of ground on turf.
I've liked what both of them have shown so far, but was particularly impressed with the two runs from Durable Goods. She is stepping up in class and stretching out in distance for this, but she appears to be pretty good.
First post coming up at 1pm. Post time for the With Anticipation is 5:40.
