Evin Roman, the leading rider at the July Thoroughbred meeting here, is making an early move to be leading rider at the Los Angeles County Fair meeting that began a 12-day run this afternoon.
Roman won Thursday's second and third races and has an excellent chance in the seventh on Jeweled (5).
Trained by Bob Baffert, Jeweled was second in a $62,500 claimer for maidens at Del Mar on Aug. 2 in her first start in 51 weeks. She does not face a tough field here and is the 2-1 favorite with 16 minutes to post.
Cool Munnings (4), who was fourth in her debut in a maiden special weight race on turf at Del Mar on Aug. 10, is the 3-1 second choice.
Update with 10 minutes to post - Starlet Storm (2), unraced since finishing fifth here last September, has been bet down to 2-1 along with Jeweled.
