Chestnut Johnny ($7.60) won the $50,000 Remington Park Turf Sprint over Drowningndiamonds on Friday night at Remington Park. He covered five furlongs on firm turf in a blazing 55.35 seconds. Alex Birzer was aboard for Al and Bill Ulwelling and trainer Michael Biehler.
The race was the first stakes of the meet at Remington.
Chestnut Johnny broke well and secured position off pacesetter Perfect Majestic, who took the field through a rapid opening quarter in 21.10 seconds. Chestnut Johnny overtok that rival through a half-mile in 43.69 and proved about a half-length best.
Chestnut Johnny is a son of Mr. Nightlinger and he was bred by Terri Carter. The Remington Park Turf Sprint was for 3-year-olds and up bred in Oklahoma.
