Trumper, a gelding by Shackleford Falls, won his career debut in a maiden race for 2-year-olds in Saturday's sixth race.

Ridden by Stewart Elliott, Trumper ($9.80) led from the start and was never really threatened, wining by 3 1-2 lengths over 7-2 Whoodat in a field of seven.

Trumper races for Los Alamitos track owner Ed Allred and is trained by Art Sherman. The gelding was purchased for $85,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sale of 2-year-olds in-training last April.

Trumper won the first leg of a 50-cent late pick four that drew a pool of $344,214.
