Going into Thursday's fifth day of the 12-day Los Angeles County Fair meeting at Los Alamitos, apprentice jockey Evin Roman and trainer Jeff Bonde lead their respective categories.
Roman has seven wins, three more than Stewart Elliott and Edwin Maldonado. Watch out for Maldonado. He had two wins on Sept. 7 and last Friday but essentially lost the weekend afer he was unseated in a one-horse spill and was previously hospitalized as a precaution. He did not ride on Sunday.
This afternoon, Maldonado's day begins with Lady Cloud (4) in the third race.
Bonde has wins, a one-race lead over John Sadler, Molly Pearson and Brian Koriner in a wide-open race.
