World Approval, who captured the Grade 1 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga on Aug. 12, doubled up in Saturday's feature at Woodbine, the Grade 1, $800,000 Woodbine Mile.
The win gave trainer Mark Casse his second consecutive Woodbine Mile victory, while jockey John Velazquez won a record fifth Woodbine Mile.
World Approval broke sharp under Velazquez and went to the lead, battling a number of horses early on including the European shipper Deauville. But when the field turned for home, World Approval took control and pulled ahead of his rivals. He went on to win by 2 1/2-lengths over Lancaster Bomber.
World Approval will now proceed on to the Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar, and must be considered a major contender based on his last two races. He appears to have found his niche as a turf-miler.
