Chatty ($3.20) won a maiden race for 2-year-old fillies in Saturday's fifth race in a fashion that suggests the filly can be an effective sprinter in coming months.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Chatty disputed the pace with 9-2 Saint Tropez and took the lead in early stretch. Chatty pulled away to win by five lengths over the first-time starter Summer's Indy, a 3-1 shot who closed well from fifth in the final half-mile.
Chatty, who is by Exchange Rate, ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:03.89. She was second in her debut at Del Mar last month. This was Chatty's second start. She is trained by Michael McCarthy for the partnership of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Madaket Stables.
