Leading rider Eurico Da Silva had a strong showing for Canadian International day at Woodbine, recording four winners on the card, which included graded stakes victories in the Canadian International with Bullards Alley and in the Grade 3 Ontario Derby with Tiz a Slam.
Bullards Alley broke a run of seven straight wins by European-based horses in the Canadian International with his 10 3/4-length score over Oscar Nominated. It was trainer Tim Glyshaw's first career Grade 1 win just a week after capturing the Grade 2 Woodford Stakes with Bucchero last weekend at Keeneland.
The winning margin was the largest in the history of the race, while the $87.90 win price was also the largest.
The other Grade 1 winner on the card was Blond Me in the E. P. Taylor Stakes. Blond Me had shown positive form on soft turf previously with a win in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes and a runner-up finish in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes, and carried it over into today's soft conditions. Field of Courage recorded his first career graded stakes score in the Grade 2 Nearctic Stakes earlier on the card.
Roger Attfield recorded a pair of winners with Tiz a Slam in the Ontario Derby and Remembering Mickey in the finale. Mark Casse also doubled up with Field of Courage in the Nearctic and Giada Vegas in the fourth.
Racing resumes here Wednesday night with an eight-race card. First post is set for 6:45 p.m.
