It was an eventful day for trainer Catherine Day Phillips, who worked her Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf prospect Dixie Moon a half in :48 on the main track this morning. She sent out Eminent Force to win a second-level optional claimer in the second, while losing him for $62.5K to trainer Dale Desruisseaux, from whom she had claimed him for the same price.
Day Phillips lost the sixth race, an OS allowance/$40K claimer, by a neck with a charging Split My Pants, and then won the $125K Bunty Lawless Stakes with the brilliant Mr Havercamp, who romped by seven and a half lengths under Eurico Da Silva.
The once-beaten Mr Havercamp is arguably the leading candidate for Canadian champion male 3yo honors. One more stakes tally would certainly solidify his chances for the award.
Da Silva, who has a whopping 30 stakes scores at the meet, swept the early double on Flutie and Eminent Force.
The handle was $3.36 million.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover heading into Sunday is S22K.
