Frank Mirahmadi has been hired by the New York Racing Association as its back-up track announcer for the Aqueduct winter meet. Mirahmadi replaces Travis Stone, who announced earlier this month that he would not be returning.
Mirahmadi will be leaving Golden Gate Fields after that track's fall meet ends on Dec. 10. He will not be returning to Golden Gate.
Mirahmadi, 50, will split the winter calling duties with John Imbriale. Larry Collmus calls NYRA's races from April thru October.
"Overwhelmingly excited," Mirahmadi said Wednesday from California. "This is one of the best opportunities there is in racing. When NYRA calls there are two things to say, "yes, please, and thank you very much."
Mirahmadi will do some of the Talking Horses handicapping shows with Andy Serling as well as work part-time in NYRA's sponsorship department.
Mirahmadi will continue as track announcer at Monmouth Park.
