Gun Runner turned in his final work for Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic with a half-mile drill in 49.62 seconds on Monday morning at Del Mar.
"That was perfect," Blasi, astride a pony accompanying Gun Runner from the track, said as they marched back to the barn. "After that work last week he just swelled up. He's just getting good after a work like that."
Blasi said Gun Runner "had a couple of nice gallops" in prior days here, setting him up for Monday's drill.
"I thought that work was beautiful," he said.
Gun Runner is scheduled for a paddock schooling session on Thursday afternoon.
