Newbury racecourse looks considerably different than one correspondent's last visit earlier this decade.

The track has redeveloped several of its grandstands, added new facilities for owners, and has book-ended the property with apartments and a hotel. The development certainly helps the bottom line, and does not take away from the racing in anyway. 

Some stands retain their older charm. This is the view of one of the older grandstands, looking from the parade ring.
