Jockey Rajiv Maragh relocated to California earlier this month to ride on a full-time basis.
While winless with four mounts on Tuesday's opening day and earlier this afternoon, Maragh has chances for a breakthrough win as a local rider on Friday. He rides Conquest Smartee (7) in the upcoming third race, a maiden race on the hillside turf course.
Trained by John Sadler, Conquest Smartee is winless in five starts, including two second-place finishes on the hillside turf course in maiden races. The main threat to Conquest Smartee is Oiseau de Guerre (4), who was second in a maiden race on the hillside on Oct. 29 in his last sart.
Maragh does know how to win around here. He rode Groupie Doll to a victories in the 2012 and 2013 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.
