Daddys Lil Darling ($6) held off a late threat from Madam Dancealot to win Saturday's Grade 1 American Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1-4 miles on turf.
Ridden by Mike Smith, Daddys Lil Darling was always near the front and took the lead in the final furlong. Madam Dancealot closed from last and ran arguably her best race, finishing 1 1-2 lengths in front of Kathy's Song, an 18-1 shot.
New Money Honey, the 9-5 favorite, finished fourth, followed by Beau Recall, Pantsonfire, Coachwhip, Bernina Star and Desert Duchess.
Daddys Lil Darling races for owner and breeder Normandy Farm and trainer Ken McPeek.
