Race 1: Loose (1) has been in solid form for Rudy Rodriguez, but now she will have to deal with a stretch-out in distance, and that could make her slightly vulnerable. The logical alternative is Andesine (6), who handles a mile and had to steady briefly while making a mid-race move into contention last time. I’ll use her, but the horse that I want to bet is Road to Perfection (2). She’s dropping back to a realistic class level, and has run speed figures in the past that would make her very competitive here.
Race 2: Maddizaskar (6) is the deserving favorite and will probably win this race if she runs back to her effort two back. However, she’s been somewhat inconsistent over the past year, and needs some pace to run into. At a slightly better price, I prefer Perina’s Pride (5), who is getting a significant trainer upgrade and has been in the best form of her career recently.
Race 3: I’m most interested in the two second-time starters. Warrior of Light (2) is the horse to beat after finishing second to the promising Dream Pauline in her debut, and she’s certainly bred to improve as a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner By the Moon. She’s formidable, but I also want to use String Section (6), who showed brief speed when facing a tougher field in her debut and now is drawn outside the other speed.
