Trickonomics, the 35-1 longest shot in a field of nine, disputed the pace and held off 6-1 Zap Again to score an upset win in Monday's fourth race, the first leg of the $2 pick six.
Trickonomics, ridden by Kyle Frey for trainer Jeff Bonde, ran 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:17.39 for his second win in nine starts. Trickonomics was fifth in a starter allowance at Los Alamitos on Dec. 10, setting the pace in a race at 5 1-2 furlongs befoe fading.
Trickonomics won a $50,000 claimer for maiden California-breds at Los Alamitos in September.
The pick six pool was $163,802. The bet began with a carryover of $360,660 in the single ticket jackpot pool.
