Dylan Davis is riding as well as anybody at the Aqueduct winter meet, but apparently trainer Ed Barker isn't impressed.
Barker sacked Davis from two mounts on Sunday's card. According to Michael Migliore, the agent for Davis, Barker is holding Davis responsible for getting Groton St Scout scratched by the veterinarian at the gate prior to Friday's fifth race.
Barker replaced Davis with Joshua Navarro on Last Chant in Sunday's opener and put Rafael Hernandez on Kissin Cassie in Sunday's finale.
The stewards confirmed that since the change was made so late -- after entries were made and the program printed -- that Barker will have to pay a double-jockey's fee in both races. That is, Davis will receive whatever Navarro and Hernandez receive for riding those horses.
Since racing resumed at Aqueduct on Jan. 12, Davis leads all riders with eight wins.
