Race 6: The two main players in this race are Timeless Beauty (5) and Blissful Breeze (6). The former has faced weaker company but brings valuable dirt route experience to the table, whereas the latter drops in class while trying dirt for the first time. Burak (2) is the main backup, as she has some dirt pedigree and would be competitive if she could transfer her turf form to the main track.
Race 7: This is one of the toughest races in this sequence. Both of Rudy Rodriguez’s runners, Daddy D T (1) and Altar Boy (4), must be used, but they have little margin for error in such a competitive field. J S Bach (3) may improve off the claim for Jason Servis and his tactical speed makes him dangerous here. I’ll use all three, but my top pick, and the one I want to lean on, is Mills (7). This horse faced some decent company at Parx recently while running some of the fastest speed figures in the field. The newfound positional speed that he’s show in his last few starts will serve him well here.
Race 8: The TimeformUS Pace Projector is predicting a situation that favors horses on or near the lead, and Zealous Scholar (6) is predicted to be clearly in front early. This filly goes out for lower-profile connections, but she’s run well in a number of starts and showed that she’s returned in good form last time out. She’s my top pick, but I also want to use horses like turning back No Hayne No Gayne (3), surface-switching Startwithsilver (5), and impressive last-out winner Andesine (7). The runner that I’m taking a stand against is Lady Bergin (1), the morning line favorite. I think she’ll be hard-pressed to outrun Zealous Scholar and she’s never been successful without the early lead.
Race 9: The two main players in the finale are Bayshore Beauty (5), who gets some needed class relief, and Jacqueline D (7), who has had plenty of chances but runs the fastest speed figures. She’s Cookin (3) is another that could be used in some capacity, but she needs to improve on her prior dirt races.
