Black Site cruised to an easy win in a maiden claimer in Saturday's fifth race, giving trainer William Morey his eighth winner from his 13th starter at the current winter-spring meeting.

Black Site ($3.80) won by 12 lengths over 8-1 Rustic Canyon.

Ridden by Evin Roman, who was honored Thursday as the nation's leading apprentice of 2017, Black Site stalked the pace to the turn and took the lead with a three-wide rally. Black Site was not urged in the final sixteenth.

Morey has one more starter on Saturday's program - Rye (6) in the $200,000 Unusual Heat Turf Classic. the eighth race.
