Toinette rallied from last in a field of nine to record an improbable win in a maiden race for 3-year-old fillies on the hillside turf course in Sunday's seventh race.
Toinette was bumped and forced to steady under jockey Rafael Bejarano shortly after the start, quickly dropping back to last. She trailed by 9 1-2 lengths after a quarter-mile and closed furiously in the final sixteenth to take the lead in the final strides with a wide rally and catch 6-1 Rockin Ready.
Sent off favored, Toinette ($4.80) ran about 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:13.32.
"She got smashed leaving the gate," trainer Neil Drysdale said.
"She looks like she has a future. She's an attractive filly."
By Scat Daddy, Toinette was purchased for $110,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and is owned by a partnership. Toinette was a troubled fourth in a maiden race on dirt at Del Mar on Nov. 26 in her only previous start.
