Combatant, the runner-up in both the Smarty Jones at Oaklawn and the Springboard Mile at Remington, worked in company Wednesday at Oaklawn. He went five-eighths in 1:01.20, according to Oaklawn clocker Taylor Radimer. 

Combatant worked on a fast track, first set after the renovation break. He came home his final quarter in 23.60 seconds, per Radimer, and galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.40.
