Santa Anita: Nichols records first win

Trainer Samuel Nichols won his first race with his 27th starter in Saturday's second race.

Miss Napper Tandy ($43.20) won a $16,000 claimer for maidens at six furlongs, the 6-year-old mare's 20th start.

Nichols has run three horses in 26 races at Southern California tracks before Saturday's breakthrough win.
