With rain in the forecast for Monday night at Santa Anita, trainer Bob Baffert moved up a planned work for Justify by a day or two, and he went an effortless five furlongs in 1:01.40 Monday under jockey Drayden Van Dyke shortly after the first renovation break at 6:30.
Justify got a Beyer Speed Figure of 104 for the his maiden win eight days ago. He is likely to make his next start in the Sunland Derby on March 25. That race offers 50 points to the winner towards a berth in the Kentucky Derby. But Baffert is known to call audibles.
He was just floating in his work on Monday. He really is a beautiful mover.
