Westerdale ($3.40) was sure a good-looking maiden winner of the third at Aqueduct, though interpreting just how good he is off this race might be difficult going forward - as it came over very sloppy conditions that horses seem to be loving or loathing this afternoon.
Regardless, he certainly did everything right on this day - going right to the front and winning for fun while kept well off the rail, the best part of the Aqueduct track. He went a mile in 1:38.58, what seemed a swift time under such conditions.
Sunday's race marked his first race with blinkers and followed a pair of third-place finishes last year as a juvenile, one of which came behind eventual stakes winner Mask.
Kendrick Carmouche was up for trainer Tom Morley, a part-owner in Westerdale, a Flat Out ridgling that sold in the summer of 2016 at Fasig Tipton for $150,000.
