Delta Downs jockey Fernando Velazquez, who was thrown in the third race Friday night, was scheduled to undergo shoulder and hand surgery on Saturday afternoon, according to an update from track officials. He is in a hospital in Lafayette, La. 

Jarred Journet also was thrown in the same race and he suffered bruises on his lower back and legs, according to officials with Delta.
