Trainer David Jacobson and the ownership group Drawing Away Stable, which three years ago ended a successful three-year run on the New York Racing Association circuit, is joining forces again, both parties confirmed Monday night.
Drawing Away announced the reunion on its Facebook page.
"The managing partners of Drawing Away Stable are happy to announce that, after a brief time apart, Drawing Away Stable and DAVID JACOBSON have agreed to reunite with David re-joining the Drawing Away Stable team of thoroughbred horse trainers," read the Facebook post.
“We had a lot of success together,” Jacobson said by phone Monday night from Southern California. “We’ve both been doing very good, but neither of us have been doing as good as we did when we were together.”
Jacobson won the most races in New York for three consecutive years _2012-2014 _ including a NYRA single-year record 164 in 2013. Drawing Away was the leading owner in wins in 2013 with 89. During their time together, Jacobson and Drawing Away campaigned stakes winners Be Bullish, Saginaw and Strapping Groom.
Jacobson said that he will soon begin claiming horses for Drawing Away in both New York and Southern California, where he opened up a stable in December.
