Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith -- representing Coolmore -- are now partners with original owner Zayat Stables on the top Kentucky Derby prospect Solomini, who is scheduled to make his 3-year-old debut on Saturday in the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
The change in ownership was confirmed by the Oaklawn Park racing office, via telephone, during the entry process on Wednesday morning.
Coolmore America is where American Pharoah, the 2015 Triple Crown winner owned by Zayat Stables, is at stud.
In the case of American Pharoah, Coolmore solely bought the breeding rights while American Pharoah was still racing; American Pharoah raced for Zayat throughout his career.
In this case, Coolmore already has partnered in the ownership while Solomini is still racing.
Solomini was second in both the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and FrontRunner Stakes last year. He also was disqualified from victory and placed third in his most-recent start, the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Cash Call Futurity.
Solomini is by Curlin and out of the Storm Cat mare Surf Song. He was purchased by Zayat Stables as a yearling for $270,000.
