The rain stopped, but the three sprint races scheduled for turf on Thursday at Santa Anita (races 1, 4, 7) will go on a main track that is listed “good”. There are numerous scratches. A traditional pick six carryover of $50,169 is up for grabs on races 3-8. Preview …
Race 1 – Off turf. This Cal-bred maiden filly sprint includes program favorite Wishful (8). Full Court scratched.
Race 3 – A maiden-20 sprint for 3yos kicks off the pick six. Optic (5), favorite Bourbon Dude (2) and Ministertomyheart (1) are the principals. No scratches, as of 11 a.m.
Race 4 – Off turf. This Cal-bred maiden filly sprint is down to a field of seven with the scratch of program favorite Pulpitinthesky and second favorite Bella Sierra.
Race 5 – A $12.5k claiming sprint for fillies and mares includes class-drop favorite Plane Lucky (2). Devil’s Beauty (5) is the one to catch. Coronado Cool scratched.
Race 6 – Strike at Daylight (4) is the most probable winner on the card, first against winners after a dominating maiden win. Rockingham Ranch purchased the filly and transferred her to trainer Peter Miller after her maiden romp. If she runs two alike, this race is over.
Race 7 – Off turf. No matter for Sturdy One (8), whose odds will be lower than 7-2 on the early line. Sturdy One is not a cinch. Midnight Swinger (2) is bred for a wet track; Ryder’s Starlight (5) goes first off the claim by Vladimir Cerin; Revenue Virginius (10) drops a notch and will roll late. Scratches: Del Mar Ann, Joyable, Not Too Shiny and Charming Starlet.
Race – Uncle Billy (6) and Awesome Anywhere (8) are the keys in this $25k claiming N2L sprint. Scratch Thankful Every Day and Many Treats.
