Kendrick Carmouche isn't Irish, but he's celebrating St. Patrick's Day in style thus far at Aqueduct, winning the first three races on the card all in front-running fashion.
In the opener, Carmouche put Full Salute on the lead from the rail and the 5-year-old gelding by Speightstown galloped to an eight-lenght victory for Danny Gargan.
In race 2, Carmouche had California Night on the inside of Gleason, the 7-5 favorite. The pair dueled through three furlongs before Gleason began to back up. California Night got a breather of a 24-second second quarter and then had something left when Gleason came back at him. California Night, trained by Mike Maker, returned $14.20
In race 3, Carmouche had Miss Mi Mi, the 2-1 favorite on the lead, she put aay Creative Princess and then turned aside a challenge from Oozle to take this maiden affair. Miss Mi Mi, trained by Christophe Clement, returned $6.70.
Carmouche does ride the remaining six races including Bluegrass Flag in the $100,000 Correction Stakes.
