Martini Glass ($8.80) scored the most important win of her career in her 23rd start when she captured the Grade 2, $350,000 Azeri Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn Park. Martini Glass and jockey Paco Lopez sat just behind pace-setting Farrell and pace-tracking Terra Promessa through splits of 23.15, 46.92, and 1:11.23 before Lopez tipped out and asked his mount for run at the top of the homestretch. Martini Glass quickly responded, zipping past the pair in front of her and going on to a decisive win over late-runner Actress, who broke slowly and finished well. Farrell held decently for third. Martini Glass is a 5-year-old mare by Kitalpha trained by Keith Nations for Nations Racing and Vince Campanella. She ran 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:42.95.
