Apprentice Wes Hamilton ended the Saturday card at Laurel Park just the way he began it - by coming up the rail to win.
Hamilton won four races a Laurel on Saturday. He won both halves of a $145.40 daily double with Zesty Zar ($14) and Sweethearted ($28.40), the fourth on Shecor ($24.60), and the 11th race nightcap on Xtracurricular ($4.80). His wins came for trainers Kenneth Cox, Gary Capuano, Gerald Brooks, and Dale Capuano.
Hamilton is the son of Laurel rider Cowboy Hamilton. A seven-pound apprentice, he is now 33 for 222 (14.8 percent) since he began riding last November.
Saturday was Hamilton's second four win day. He rode four winners Feb. 18 and three winners Feb. 25.
The Rainbow 6 went unhit again Saturday at Laurel and there will be a $94,895 carryover on Sunday. The Rainbow 6 consolation Saturday paid $5,045, in great part to V.I.P. Code's $74.40 upset in the Private Terms Stakes.
