Flights bringing horses to New Mexico for the Sunland Derby card arrived Wednesday and Thursday, according to track official Robbie Junk. Horses from Florida arrived Wednesday and a flight from Southern California arrived Thursday.
Junk said all horses in the entries from those locales are now on the grounds at Sunland. There are seven stakes on the card Sunday, led by the Grade 3, $800,000 Sunland Derby.
Peace, the fourth-place finisher in the Grade 2 San Felipe at Santa Anita in town for the Sunland Derby, was aboard the Thursday flight for trainer Richard Mandella. It will be the horse's first start outside of Southern California.
"He shipped very well," said Mandella.
Other shippers from California in the Sunland Derby are All Out Blitz, Dark Vader and Choo Choo.
Horses from Florida in the field are Hollywood Star, Prince Lucky and Seven Trumpets.
