It was a busy morning here for potential Florida Derby and Gulfstream Oaks contenders training at Gulfstream Park, all of that action taking place following the second renovation break.
Trainer Dale Romans sent out both Fountain of Youth winner Promises Fulfilled and Storm Runner for their final Fla. Derby breezes. Promises Fulfilled worked five furlongs from the half-mile pole in 1:02.08 before galloping out in 1:15.04. Storm Runner, in contrast, zipped the same distance in 59.17, out three-quarters in 1:12.80.
About 20 minutes later, Romans came back with his Oaks contender Coach Rock, five furlongs straight up in 59.84 with Tammy Fox aboard. She was in turn followed by Heavenhasmynikki, another likely Oaks starter, who also worked five furlongs in 1:00.68 with Robby Albarado aboard.
Other workers of note after the break included Machismo, possible for Blue Grass, 5F in 1:00.81, also Albarado up; Tiz Mischief, 5F in 59.80; Free Drop Billy, and Cove Blue.
