Shotgun Kowboy, who was a powerful allowance winner Friday at Oaklawn, could see action next at Lone Star Park.
Trainer C.R. Trout said Saturday morning that the horse is a candidate for the Grade 3, $200,000 Steve Sexton Mile on May 6. The race is one of the richest of the Lone Star meet, where Trout said he will be based after Oaklawn.
Shotgun Kowboy was winning his second allowance of the Oaklawn meet on Friday, when he set a pressured pace, disposed of his rival, and went on to a clear win while covering a mile and a sixteenth on a fast track in 1:42.93.
"I was proud of him," said Trout.
In the horse's other local allowance win this meet, in February, he darted home by five lengths and became a millionaire. Trout also bred and owns Shotgun Kowboy.
