Jockey Antonio Quiles won the first race of his career in race 7 at Laurel Park on Saturday.
Quiles guided Lady By Choice to an about 10-length victory for leading trainer Claudio Gonzalez. Lady By Choice paid $16.40 in the $35,000 claiming race for 3-year-old fillies.
He received a good-natured dousing by his fellow riders on his return to the jockeys' room.
Lady By Choice was Quiles' fifth career mount. Quiles is a 21-year-old native of Puerto Rico, and went to the jockey school in San Juan. He is being prepresented by agent Tom Stift, who took the above photo.
