Lightning Dove rallied from off the pace to win Saturday's seventh race, an allowance race with a $40,000 claiming option on the hillside turf course and give trainer Ron Ellis his first win of the meeting with his first starter since late December.
Ellis was suspended for 60 days in January and February for a medication violation in 2016 when Masochistic tested positive for a steroid following a second-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Santa Anita.
He reformed his stable earlier this month. Lightning Dove was his first starter since he resumed training.
Lightning Dove ($59.40) was ridden by Drayden Van Dyke. A 4-year-old filly by Uncle Mo, Lightning Dove was previously trained by Paul McGee in Kentucky.
