Three horses from Saturday's $1 million Florida Derby -- won decisively by Audible -- are under consideration for the Kentucky Derby.
Naturally, Audible, the three-length winner, is headed that way. He will remain at the Palm Beach Downs training center until at least mid-April before shipping to Churchill Downs, trainer Todd Pletcher said Sunday morning.
Audible, a New York-bred son of Into Mischief earned a 99 Beyer Speed Figure for his Florida Derby victory. It was the same figure he earned when he won the Grade 2 Holy Bull by 5 1-2 lengths at Gulfstream on Feb. 3.
"The Holy Bull it was kind of hard to be much more impressive than he was that day," Pletcher said Sunday morning at Palm Beach Downs. "But the key yesterday was that he proved a mile and an eighth was no issue and it gives you confidence he'll stay the distance. I thought it was another step in the forward direction."
Hofburg, the Florida Derby runner-up, will be under consideration for the Kentucky Derby "only if we think it's the right thing to do." said Bill Mott, who trains Hofburg for Juddmonte Farms.
Hofburg, a son of Tapit, has made just three career starts.
Promises Fulfilled, who finished last in the Florida after being pushed along early by Strike Power, still has enough points to qualify for the Derby based on his Fountain of Youth victory.
Trainer Dale Romans said Sunday that "we're going to keep moviong forward" to the Kentucky Derby. "He came out of the race in great shape."
Promises Fulfilled left Gulfstream Park -- along with Gulfstream Park Oaks winner Coach Rocks -- Sunday morning on a van bound for Churchill Downs. Coach Rocks is pointing to the Kentucky Oaks on May 4.
