With two minutes to post for Thursday's second race, Santa Anita was hit by a moderate earthquake.
The press box - which is on the roof - shook noticeably for about 10 seconds. That was interesting. Things have quieted now.
The Southern California Earthquake Data Center, which is allied with the California Institute of Technology and United States Geological Society, reported a 5.3 earthquake on the Richter Scale at 12:29 to the east of Santa Cruz Island, which is about 60 to 70 miles west of Santa Anita.
