Roaring Rule ($9.60) held off a sustained challenge from 13-1 Shackleford Banks to win Thursday's third race, the first leg of a pick six that drew $1,357,895 in new money.

The bet began with a two-day carryover of $339,082 in the pick six main pool and $245,751 in the single ticket jackpot pool, which is paid only if there is one winning ticket.

Roaring Rule was the fourth choice in a field of six.
